Vicar is situated on the meridian of the Sierra de Gador in the central part of the Almerian poniente hence it’s name and slogan HEART OF THE PONIENTE. The Mediterranean motorway crosses the northern part of the municipality, which makes it easily accessible, and makes Vicar just 10 – 15 minutes away from all principal centres and towns. Vicar is a dynamic municipality with quality public services, which are continually growing. Health services, education up to the age of 18 years, nursery schools, sports centres, transport services, indoor market open every morning for fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, bread and meat, the Golf course at La Envia, a new football stadium under construction and a large public swimming pool. Vicar has all the shops, bars, banks etc. but it is renowned for its large open-air market on a Sunday morning. The place for a bargain, churros and chocolate, fresh spit-roasted chickens all add to the flavour of this town. The large agricultural area surrounds Vicar and supplies most of Europe with its produce; you may even recognise the boxes in your supermarkets!

The province of Almeria is served by a well-connected International Airport, which can be reached in little more than two hours from most European destinations. Almeria International Airport is the starting point for our journey to the BALCON DEL MAR apartments. To reach our destination we take the Almeria bypass to the N-340 motorway, heading Westwards past the town of Aguadulce. From here we head South to Roquetas de Mar. Journey time from the airport is about 25 minutes.
Roquetas de Mar is less than a ten minute drive away and is popular for its many facilities including shops, schools, medical facilities and inexpensive restaurants & bars. Roquetas de Mar also boasts an enviable nightlife with a good selection of clubs and discos. Roquetas de Mar’s marina, a short walk along the promenade, is not to be missed. The town also has a state-of-the-art auditorium. Lovers of the beach will be delighted to know that Roquetas de Mar boasts extensive beaches with fine golden sand. The beach and promenade are within walking distance of the BALCON DEL MAR apartments.
For “shopaholics”, the regional capital - Almeria - is less than 10 minutes drive from the town, offering world-class shopping and some fabulous historical monuments such as the “Alcazaba” – Almeria’s Moorish castle.
Golfers are truly privileged, with a selection of 5 golf courses to choose from, all within easy reach.
Anyone enjoying winter sports will find the Sierra Nevada mountain range around 30 minutes away with skiing facilities being reached in little more than an hour.
